Imagine: What If You Walked In the Spirit Today?

After Bible study last night, a friend and I talked on the way home.  At one point in the conversation, we turned to discussing Romans 7 and 8, and (to cut to the point – no need to relive the whole theological discussion here) I ended up being hit with such a strong thought:

What if we woke up each morning and simply walked in the Spirit of God that day?

Wouldn’t that pretty much change everything?  I thought about how many times I respond to events in anger or frustration rather than in love.  In those times, I am listening to the flesh rather than to God’s Spirit.  Oh how much sweeter and better life would be for me in my home and in all places if I would listen to God’s Spirit rather than the flesh!

I know it is a whole lot easier to say this than to do it.  There is no question about that.  I don’t mean to say that it is as easy as simply deciding I am going to do it.  But still, when I think about how much more peace and joy and happiness would result from such an attitude in life, I am drawn so strongly to desire it anew!

What would your life look like if you walked in the Spirit today?  I can guarantee you that it would be far better.  Why not commit to that in your heart and mind this day?  Why not pray to our Father, who desires to give us His Spirit, and ask Him for that blessing?  God desires to help us, for He loves us.  This is a goal worth striving for.

One Response to Imagine: What If You Walked In the Spirit Today?

  1. Clint Adams says:

I think the Lord brought two Scriptures to my mind earlier today that I need to put into practice in my life much better, Romans 13:14, “…and make not provision for the flesh…” and Philippians 4:8 which speaks of thinking about God honoring things (which would be one way I would summarize that verse, at the least in part). It seems like I would need to be obeying God in these things better if I would want to walk in the Spirit much more than I do.
